Damien Bagley - 1995 Nissan 240sx

Somedays I sit around and think about where Ive been and where I've come from. What is drifting and how did I get here? I guess it all started when I was a young kid in my home town. I had to go fast and race anything I cold get my hands on. It started with RC cars and building fast ones for the dirt or the street. Next was bmx bike riding. For the longest time I was attached to my bike for what seemed like 24/7. Racing, jumping what ever. After bmx lost its thrill I moved on to go kart racing. This was a rush. Nothng like being a kid in a kart doing 70mph 2 inches off the ground. The fever for speed was fierce and I needed more. It was 99 and I had been driving some sweet sedans for 2 years.

One day I while shopping for a Supra or an FD RX7 which I could have never been able to afford, I stumbled upon this 240sx in the paper. It was at a dealer and had 30,000 original miles on it. I got in my car and drove down to have a look. Having only driven stick in the ridge racer video game I wasnt even sure I could drive this car. The salesman gave me a plate and sent me out by myself in the car. I eased out of the spot I was in, came to the road for my test drive, and as I pulled out I layed on the throttle lit the tires and slid it right out on to the highway. I was hooked. I got back from my test drive, traded my sedan in and financed the rest hoping I could afford the payment. Since the days of losing my 240sx virginity Ive been hooked on the chassis and keeping them sideways.

Back then who knew messing around in parking lots could turn into what drifting is today. I never read option magazines or saw JDM video's. I was just messing around. It was around that time this little event organization showed up in NJ.

DG Trials was the first legal drifting events around. I showed up with my car, still open diff at the time, and went out and had a blast. Ever since then its been a roller coaser ride of ups and downs. Local events, demos, pro events, going over seas to drift. The whole thing has been a dream. I am so thankful for my sponsors and the support of my family and friends who have stuck behind me even when I wasnt sure I could continue anymore.

From blown motors to bone jarring wrecks, other drivers may have threw in the towel. I cant do it. Its in my blood. I was asked what drifting means to me. I dont really have an anwer. It defines me I guess. The adrenalin rush. The freedom of walking the line and the edge of out of control. Its amazing. Im so thankful for where Ive been and where Ive yet to go because of this little thing called drifting. Im thiankful theres events out there for us to drive to.

With the ups and downs of the economy Im glad theres others out there with the sickness of speed and the addiction to tire smoke and door to door mania!!!!!!!!

Matt Waldin - 2008 Nissan Nismo 350z ( MattWaldin.com )

Matt Waldin was born in the hills of Roanoke, VA in 1979, little did his parents know that he would turn out to be quite the adrenaline junkie. Once Matt got his license he was constantly pushing the envelope in just about every car he got into. In 1998 Matt bought his first Nissan 240sx and ever since then the streets were littered with tire marks.

He soon realized that taking drifting to the track was right thing to do and an origination called Club Loose was formed on the east coast and soon Matt was tearing up the Englishtown NJ parking lot with a group of now well seasoned drivers. Matt had to put professional drifting on the back burner to focus on his business. (Import Intelligence Inc.)

Now with the help of good friends and a great staff at Import Intelligence Matt now holds every North American professional drifting license. With these new tools you are sure to see Matt and his crew at any number of events around the USA and Canada
